Alongside President Goodluck Jonathan, major figures in the Nigerian cabinet outlined an aggressive development programme over the next four years for Nigeria at the 2nd annual Africa Business Round Table at the Palace Hotel in New York Thursday September 22. The plan included new infrastructure, in energy and transportation, and an increase in petroleum and natural gas exports. Gathered were international investors and consultants keen on assessing the new administrations commitment to development and growth and receptiveness of private sector investors. Guest speakers included former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. While the bulk of the investors were interested in energy and infrastructure sectors, a number of participants came from hospitality and tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing. The government is poised to make Nigeria the largest economy in Africa and a major player on the global economic stage.
